17th Harbin Ice and Snow World Will Open on Dec. 25, 2015


Harbin Cultural Tourism Group, the sponsor of Harbin Ice and Snow Festival World held a press conference on November 14. They announced the 17th Harbin Ice and Snow World (2016) will open on December 25, 2015. Their workers will start to haul massive blocks of ice from the frozen Songhua River. It is estimated that more than 10,000 workers and artists will build the park.

As one of the four theme parks of the Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival 2016, the theme of the 17th Harbin Ice and Snow Festival World (2016) is Ice Building the Silk Road, Snow Shining Heilongjiang. The Architectural Design and Research Institute of Harbin Institute of Technology and NITA Design Group (the Netherlands) will joint-design this man-made winter wonderland.

The park will consists of 4 areas, including Ice Fascination, Silk Road Adventure, Ice & Snow Olympics, and Impression of Heilongjiang.

Tourists will see 3 important competitions holding in the park: the 5th Harbin China International Group Ice Sculpture Competition, the 13th Harbin China International Ice Sculpture Competition, and the 2015 Harbin International LED Ice & Snow Landscape Art Innovative Design Competition. In the park, tourists can also watch many wonderful shows, experience Russian culture (the Yakutsk Theme Park and the Russian Ice & Snow Painting Exhibition), and enjoy the super disco (10,000 people may join in the dance) .

The park will open at 11:00 am and close at 22:00 every day during its operation (Dec. 25, 2015 - Feb. 25, 2016). The business hours of its ski resort is from 9:00am to 16:00pm. The opening hours of the tourist area is from 11:00am to 21:00pm.

The adult ticket prices are CNY 300 (ordinary days) and CNY 330 (public holidays: Jan 1-3, Feb 7 - 15, and Feb 22.)
